Thiaga Sastha Trust

We are a Charitable Trust registered under Indian Trust Act and Income Tax Act, commenced operations in September 1999 for promoting Sanathana Dharma and conducting various activities for the welfare of general public.

We are running a Krishna Yajur Veda Patasala since 2002 and at present 10 students are pursuing their vedic course in the traditional Gurukulam style at Periyava Illam, Madambakkam, Chennai.

We are constantly guided by His Holiness Sankaracharyas of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam in our activities.

Periyava Illam

His Holiness Sri Bala Periyava Shri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam visited Periyava Illam premises on 4.12.1999 and blessed us by performing His evening rituals. He inaugurated our activities and gave “Anugraha Bashanam” to the people.

His Holiness Swargeeya Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal gave a pair of Silver Gurupadukas of our Maha Periyava in September 2002 and another pair of wooden padhugas in 2010, which are being worshipped with abhisegam and pujas on Anusham days and puja performed every day.

His Holiness Jayendra Saraswathi swamigal visited Periyava Illam on 17.1.2004, and released a book “Arulmanigal 50 Arulthuthigal 50” published by our trust and blessed us. He was guiding us in conducting our activities right from our inception till he attained His maha Samadhi on 27th February 2018.

Again on 14.2.2016, His Holiness Bala Periyava visited our Periyava Illam and participated in our programme of celebration of jayanthis of Sri Adi Sankara, Maha Periyava and His Holiness Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal. He also distributed our Sri Sankara awards to 6 persons of the area doing yeoman service to the people and gave his anugraha bhashanam.

We are supported by Jana Kalyan, Madambakkam through the noble scheme of “Pidi arisi Thittam” launched by Our Maha Periyava of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam for running the Veda Patasala. Additionally, other like minded Public, provide financial support to the Trust from time to time to carry out its various activities .
